Colonies/Tributaries:
New groups that may not yet be fully sanctioned by M.E.L.E.E.
Redoubts:
Individuals or groups with paid Citizens that have not yet applied for or received Sanctioning by the High Chancellery.
Shires / Bastions:
Groups 5 - 49 paid Citizens who bear all the rights of membership and meet regularly.
To become a recognized Shire a group must present the High Chancellery with an 8" x 36" cloth banner, which depicts their emblem.
Strongholds/Crown Provinces:
Groups 50 or more paid Citizens who bear all the rights of membership and meet regularly.
Additional requirements such as establish officers (Chancellors), field judges (Reeves), enable a Stronghold for the investiture as a Crown Province.
Crown Provinces:
These Strongholds have received Investiture from the High Chancellery enabling them to establish an individual as Crown (e.g., Baron, Count, Earl, Duke) by virtue of meeting special requirements relating to local officers and administrators as well as weekly reporting. Upon investiture, and the establishment of a Crown (through a Crown War, for example), the Crown Province attains additional privileges such as the consecretion of Nobility (Lords & Ladies), delegation of Thanes (deed holders), conduct Provincial Warlord Campaigns, and ultimately even create Knights.
